Isaac Sheng

Tax Manager

Isaac is a manager in the Tax department and joined Wisteria July 2023. He is happy to help in all areas of tax affairs.

Prior to joining Wisteria, Isaac was trained at the Big 4, and then spend time in Government Finance working on Net Zero Innovation Programmes.

Outside of Isaac enjoys cycling, tennis and bouldering.

What led you to pursue a career in your current role, and how did you get started in the field?

I got started in tax straight out of University, worked in the Big 4 and got my ATT. After my grad scheme I went on to work for the Government. I Completed my ACA and CTA there and ended up becoming Head of SICE Finance working on Net Zero innovation programmes. It was a really fulfilling role, but I was feeling the pull of tax. So now I’m back doing tax 100%.

What do you enjoy most about your job, and what do you find most challenging?

The people at Wisteria, I enjoy coming into the office and my colleagues are helpful and have welcoming.

I think the volume of work can be a challenge at first. However, as an agile firm I feel I can make a positive difference making improvements to my work and my teams work, by increasing efficiency we can easily tackle the volume of work.

What do you believe are the most important qualities for success in your current role, and how do you strive to embody those qualities in your work?

Attention to detail and being organised, this is needed to stay on top of a wide portfolio of work. I think that I strive to make my work and my team enjoyable, a happier team work better together, get more done and this including paying attention to the detail. I try to embody this by taking an interest in the wellbeing of my team.
